The eThink team recently returned to Chi-Town for the ASAE Annual Meeting & Exposition where thousands of passionate association professionals came together to network, find inspiration, and discover tools and strategies to help meet professional and organizational challenges.

ASAE: What is it about?

ASAE is at the forefront of Association Leadership with more than 42,000 members. After three full days of meetings, expo hall conversations and networking, one thing is clear: member training and satisfaction is a top priority. Attendees in the expo hall were noticeably focused on finding 1) technology products to store and organize member data and 2) simple yet robust solutions to deliver and track member training.

How are Associations using eLearning?

Associations are using learning platforms in a number of ways, including to:

  • Manage certifications
  • Increase member engagement
  • Connect members and encourage networking and resource-sharing
  • Eliminate administrative work-arounds
  • Enable reporting to provide valuable member insights
  • Sell courses to provide an additional means of revenue
  • Provide value to members

Our Biggest Take-Away:

Continuing Education and Professional Development is key to the success of most associations, and there was an overwhelming feeling in the expo hall that most Association-focused tools are rigid and unable to meet the unique needs of each association. Many of these tools were introduced to the market 10+ years ago and have not been able to keep up with today’s rapidly evolving eLearning Ecosystem.

The flexible nature of both Moodle and Totara, along with eThink’s service heavy model, has allowed the eThink team to configure unique learning environments for each of our Association clients. (You can learn more about the working we are doing with International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists (IACIS) here.)

Both Moodle and Totara allow for simple yet highly effective trainings to be delivered to Association members who trust their Association to keep them up to date on certifications, industry trends, compliance updates, and other learning needs.  Associations then have the ability to run highly customizable reports, generate revenue through their offerings, and distribute CE credits.

Furthermore, with so many different tools, technologies, and options that can be found by simply wandering the expo hall (see the picture of the expo hall below to understand what we mean!), there was also the overwhelming task of figuring out: where do I start? That’s where eThink comes in…

At eThink, each of our Association clients has a slightly different eLearning need set and thus will need different tools or strategies to help them achieve their goals. Our team works hand-in-hand with clients to not only configure each client site to provide custom learning that can be delivered and tracked with no fuss, but we help advise our clients on the best tools or strategies to meet their unique needs.

We look forward to continuing our relationship with ASAE and helping associations to realize their eLearning goals and needs.
