What is Blended Learning?

Both online and in-seat learning methods have their shortcomings, and many educators and learning professionals agree that balancing the two can offset the shortcomings of both of them. Blended learning is a method of doing just that, and it is notable for its willingness to flex to meet the instructor's methods and subject matter.

Blended courses seek to teach each lesson in the way that has been shown to work best for students. That means sometimes a course needs to be heavy on the online resources, with just a few class meetings to cover vital information. Other times, the balance is more even, or there is even more instruction in face-to-face settings than online. It all depends on what the course and students need.
