What Is Gamification?

Gaming principles have been a big part of the software industry from the beginning, because video games were a big part of the public demand for electronic environments. Gamification is when systems that are not primarily use games adopt participation incentives that mirror those used in games, essentially creating game-like elements to a user's experience in an application.
