​The Shared Content Object Reference Model refers to a set of tools developed by the U.S. military and standardized across many industries and niches, including education. It produces easily referenced data on course progress in the form of point scores and percentages earned, providing both learner users and instructors with a fast reference point for learner progress through a linear course design model. It is among the most relied-upon quantitative grading standards in education, although other methods that update and expand upon SCORM have since overtaken its features and ease of use.
